The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 designed most questlines so that they may be completed in multiple ways. Thus, giving the players more freedom in how they approach situations. This guide represents one method that is confirmed to unlock this achievement.

You will first encounter the Owlbear cub in the Owlbear Nest in Act 1. The next is just east of Blighted Village near the river. If you kill the Owlbear, don’t kill the cub.

Find Scratch just outside the Blighted Village in Act 1. Interact with him and convince him to meet you at your camp.

When you reach the Goblin Camp, the goblins will be playing a chicken game with the cub. Participate in the game and help it complete the course. Next, take out all 3 goblin leaders (don’t kill Sazza) and clear the goblin camp.

After you wipe out the goblins and take multiple long rests, the cub will approach you in your camp. Offer it food, but be ready for Gale to accidently scare it away.

The next time you take a long rest, the Owlbear cub will return with a wounded paw. Take care of it and the cub will decide to stay at camp. The next long rest, you will wake up to find Scratch and the Owlbear cub next to each other. Pet Scratch, then pet the cub for the You Have Two Hands for a Reason achievement to pop.

AntiFederal1If Scratch is holding the ball in his mouth while you complete the second owlbear mission, the Scratch ball will overwrite the interaction and possibly softlock the achievement.

This achievement must be set up in Act 1, before dealing with the Goblin Camp containing the .

First off, on the road down to the river from the Druid Grove, two bickering NPCs can be found. Go past them and follow the road further until you see a cave mouth, enter here. Inside the cave, go down the left (you can take a detour here by jumping to the left of the little island you're on onto a ledge to unlock a chest/get inspiration for Shadowheart if she's in your party) until you find an owlbear and her cub. Fight and kill the mother, but leave the cub alone. Later on, in the Goblin Camp, either play the goblins' game or persuade them to free the cub, which unlocks it as a camp pet.

Scratch can be found near the Blighted Village, guarding the corpse of its master. Use Speak With Animals and convince Scratch to come to your camp, where he'll appear at the next long rest.

Following the above, continue interacting positively with both the cub and Scratch, and eventually you'll get a scene where you'll pet both and unlock the achievement

(Fun fact: this was partially bugged in earlier patches and wouldn't work properly if you had the Speak With Animals spell active)

s2rtmcPlease note that the Cub will eventually show up at your camp during a long rest cutscene. It looks like 1-2 interactions are required before the Cub trusts you enough to stay. If you progress too far into Act 2 (i.e. the fight with

) without encountering these cutscenes, it is possible to miss out on having the owlbear cub in your camp.
