Yes! I'm sure there's a lot of people keeping a close eye on this one. Myself included laugh

It definitely is going to be a lot to write up, but I'm excited to take it on. I won't know for sure until I 100% the game myself, but I think this could be tackled across two playthroughs. I plan on updating this thread come the end of the month in terms of how things are progressing. Ideally I would like to have a majority of the first playthrough written up by then, but I have yet to contend with Honor Mode so that goal may be me putting my foot in my mouth.

Hi! Thanks for the update on the walkthrough guide. I'd like to ask if you are intending to share what you have written for the first playthrough first and then update the rest for the Honor Mode, or on the other hand share the whole guide for the 100% as a whole when it's ready. Primarly because knowing how long is this game and how slow I like to take things, I'd appreciate having the guide for the first run and then wait for the rest :)

Not one to judge as I haven’t touched "BG3" yet, but I think three playthroughs (in-depth normal playthrough, Dark Urge Tactician playthrough, Honor playthrough) might be better given how mainstream the game is compared to other CRPGs (i.e. a lot of people inexperienced in the genre will/have picked it up). Just my two cents though.

Pretty sure TA WTs are never published without the base game list completely covered.

    This is correct.
I'm afraid we don't publish a walkthrough unless it has all base game achievements included as a minimum, preferably all DLC but exceptions are made for that.

I definitely appreciate the input. After I finish my own Honor playthrough there are two things that I plan on testing that'll determine if I go with two or three recommended playthroughs:

    - Can you save all the Tieflings as Dark Urge? I have a test in mind in how to trigger certain events in a order to make it happen.
    - Does the Tactician mode achievement unlock along with the Honor mode achievement if you do Honor mode first?

For a game as lengthy as BG3, if it's not super convoluted or taxing, I think going with two over three playthroughs would be more palatable to people. Time will tell though! smile

Theoretically would the people who know how to save scum honour mode be able to boost the foehammer achievement for others?

Don’t see how that would be possible given that realistically cloud saves would be the only way to cheese Honour Mode.

I think it may be possible, but I know not all achievements are capable of being unlocked by non-hosts in this game. Right now I'm piloting through a second Honor mode run on a spare account to both shore up the Honor mode pathing I'm outlining in the walkthrough but also to verify if the Tactician/Honor mode achievements can be unlocked at the same time or not. What I may do if someone is willing to tag along is once I am at the point of no return in Act 3, I'll make a post here for someone without the achievements to join my session and we can test it out.

I don’t know if I’m replying to this right, but yeah I saw some people talking about how they back them up with cloud saves.

And Id be down to test your tactician/honor mode theory if you need someone

As I understand it, Honor Mode is available right from the start. Is it theoretically possible to get all achievements in a single playthrough.

I’m thinking probably not. I imagine there are mutually exclusive achievements. Since there’s a single save slot, I figure we’re stuck with certain choices & can’t use save manipulation to unlock mutually exclusive achievements.

Cloud saves could still theoretically be exploited for that, and I don’t think there are any of the sort actually, though that’s kinda just guessing.

If the stars aligned, it may be possible to complete the game in one playthrough, but that is definitely not what I'll be recommending. There are three primary factors that could make it impossible:

    - Two difficulty related achievements, one for Tactician and one for Honor mode. I've read several posts that playing on Honor mode won't unlock both achievements, but there are others that confirm that. I'm currently playing through again to verify that myself.
    - Two ending achievements are somewhat mutually exclusive. On a base playthrough there are two ending choices that result in an achievement each, but one of those options is replaced by a different version for another achievement unique to The Dark Urge origin. Technically could work around it if you timed cloud save correctly as the decision that locks that in is late Act 3.
    - Playing as The Dark Urge has a high risk of voiding the "Save all the Tieflings" achievement due to a series of events, so attempting that on Honor mode would be a bit of a gamble for those not savvy with cloud saves.

That said, if it is possible, definitely not something that I will base the guide around. I might have a call-out section for that though in case someone does indeed want to attempt it if it proves technically possible.

Understand completely. One of my idiosyncrasies is to always start and play a game on the highest available difficulty. Another is to avoid mop-up and, whenever possible, complete the game in a single playthrough. I understand that usually means a less efficient and more time-consuming approach to a 100% completion.

I wondered about that myself. If Tactician does not stack with Honor, that forces a minimum of two playthroughs.

I'm very savvy with cloud saves and I'd be willing to take the gamble.

I ordered the Physical Edition which, as I'm sure you know, has not been released yet. So, I'm a ways from playing the game. If a one playthrough approach is possible, that is, definitely, what I'll be going for. I'll have to have a rock solid road map for the achievements to ensure I don't lock myself out of obtaining a missable.

As I understand the issue, on Honour/Honor, you're limited to one save slot. There is the possibility that, if you make a save it doesn't synch and update the global save in the cloud for a while. That would have to be tested out.

I'm sure you know this but I'll explain anyway for people who may not know. One could make a save and quit the game. That would cause the local save to synch with the global save and 'bank' it. Then one could resume the game and make another save overwriting the local save on the console. That most recent save could be loaded more than once for achievements that require save manipulation.

Then, providing one has not spent too much time in the game and the local and global saves have not synched one could, without quitting the game, press cn_guide, and go to manage the game and add-ons. From there one could delete the save on console only. This would force the game to close. When the game is restarted it would synch with the global save in the cloud--hopefully, the one that was "banked."

Ideally, this kind of complex save manipulation would not be required. The achievements would all be straightforward and would not require decision point branching. But, looking at the game, it appears that some achievements are based on decisions. So one would have to be careful if one hopes, as I do, to unlock all achievements in a single playthrough.
