Can someone who has unlocked all achievements for Xbox One version of GTA 5 post a step-by-step guide of what one must do to correctly retroactively unlock all achievements on the Xbox Series X|S version?

Seems like a lot of people are having trouble unlocking achievements after transferring their saves.

Would like to pick this up, but don't want to risk achievements (especially online & Mastermind achievements) not unlocking after transfer.

    Thanks!

For single player, you need to upload a save from the Xbox One version. Make sure it is one that has everything completed (collectibles and other items). Once it is uploaded, you boot up the Xbox Series X version and select single player. It should detect the saved game that was uploaded and you choose to play from that version.

Unlocking all 43 single player achievements.

Multiplayer: You just have to make sure you confirm that the player you are transferring from the Xbox One is correct level.

I know a couple friends who have done this process and unlocked all their achievements without any issues. Just note that if you do the transfer, it will wipe your Xbox One online progress.

Just to be sure you can upload your single player save separately to the online one right? Still got the Japan version to do.

Single player and GTA Online are separate. I uploaded a single player save and have not lost any multiplayer data. Just make sure that when you transfer a single player save, it is the one that has everything completed since you can only do that once.

You can still play your single player save without getting it wiped. It is GTA Online where you need to navigate carefully and make sure that if it asks for transfer that you decline until you are ready. I have checked your profile and see you already obtained online achievements, but have not accepted the transfer of character data from Xbox One to Series X.

If you still have achievements in both Xbox One versions, make sure to complete them first. Especially the online before transferring your online character. The last thing you want to do is repeat the Doomsday heist achievements without losing lives or meeting certain requirements.

I'm guessing that this is not a free upgrade and you have to purchase the series x/s version?

Nope, you have to purchase the Series X/S version separately. No Smart Delivery for this game, which is why it's a separate achievement list.

Yes, you can do one or the other; they are separate transfers. You're not required to do both.

Yes, the Xbox One disc will just let you play the Xbox One version of the game, so you are safe. You can only play the Series X|S version by using a Series X disc or buying the digital version.

Just wanted to add you can use a save from GTA V Xbox One JP version for the story transfer and it will work alright. Story achievements pop after restarting the game and loading into story mode again.
