Assassin's Creed Valhalla achievements show over 40% of Xbox players didn't reach England

Took some time, but I 100% the game and most DLC. The whole "gods" part felt awful to me, I genuinely didn't care the slightest about this nonsense. Now I just need to finish the rogue-like DLC. And I really dislike it. That will take me a lot of time because I really don't like it, and I don't want to start Mirage before I finished this and remove it from my Xbox once and for all.

52% of people finished Chapter 1 in Red Dead Redemption 2

39.70% of people got past Tartarus in Hades.

43.46% of people reached level 5 in Fallout 4.

53.07% of people acquired the relic in Cyberpunk 2077.

56.14% of people picked their first ability point in Guardians of the Galaxy.

58.76% of people finished Chapter 1 in A Plague Tale.

So 56.45% of players reaching England is completely ordinary.

One day after being added to Game Pass is a strange time to do this analysis, since a bunch of people would've just started it.
The game's been out more than 3 years. I'm sure the amount of people who've started it in the less than 24 hours since it joined Game Pass can't have made much difference to the statistics.
Contrary actually, since yesterday 1,241 players finished the prologue and unlocked that achievement. To get the 1,241 players before that we go back 22 days to December 18th. The ones before that? Back to December 1st.

As for the achievement in question 95 unlocks since it joined yesterday. That’s like a 93% drop off which is insane.

Free to Play* drives extreme interest in giving it a shot. Most probably have no real interest but try anyway then realize the game takes up a large chunk of their hard drive delete it and move on.
Considering the total amount of over 274,000 tracked players on TA those additional 1,200 barely matter so their original statement holds up.
And it came out 1154 days ago thus averaging 237 starts every day. 1200 in 2 days is WAY above that average especially for a game over 3 years old. Their statement is false, gamepass does make a difference mathematically on literally every metric.
You really averaging the number of players over more than 3 years and think you have an argument hahaha.
Nope he’s the one who brought up the 274000. I could care less how many have played it. I’m sure games with a couple thousand players wind up getting an equal boost in players when joining GP.

Facts are 1200 people (probably 1500-2000 by now) had started it since it joined gamepass yesterday when to get that number before you had to go back over the course of 3 weeks. If it had not entered GP it would not have those numbers this late in its life.

Interestingly, 22% of the tracked gamers here on TrueAchievements haven’t unlocked the To England! achievement for leaving Norway.
When I, initially, assess a game on TA; I look at two things. First, the TA rating. Second, the achievement distribution curve.

Granted that this is just an introductory cursory glance, games where the achievement distribution curve is skewed heavily to the left indicate gamers quickly losing interest in a game.

In contrast, a game like Elden Ring has an achievement distribution curve skewed heavily to the right. Almost a fifth of TA tracked gamers have completed the game—a title with a reputation of being difficult & challenging.

Too often, a game is lauded for a high rating. I suggest we also consider a game’s staying power—its ability to capture & hold the interest of its players.

Regardless you're completely missing the point. If over 40% of more than 270k people hadn't got past the prologue then it STILL would have been over 40% disregarding the thousand or so recent game pass players. Which is all I was saying as he implied it would make a noticeable difference.

There is a stat about the day before it was added to GP in the article as well.

The game has a warning about buggy achievements and the achievement guide for the To England achievement has many people saying it didn't unlock so these stats are misleading.

I'd also question why people would start such a game if they are going to quit during the prologue chapters.
Valhalla was especially and unexpectedly boring and unfun to myself and many others. Not every AC game is equally good, some are real stinkers in fact. In my personal book Valhalla seems to be one of the worst. I played it for a free weekend and just realized there were maybe going to be 20 hours of joy packed into 120+ hours of game and bagged the whole idea.

I’m sure that many players did like Valhalla but it seems to be far from universal. Most AC games have pretty inventive DLC, I read River Raid wasn't well received but maybe other DLC improved the core game by its inclusion, no idea.
That's a fair comment. For me, I'd at least play through the prologue, and the story. I didn't rate this game that highly, think I gave it 3 out of 5.

You don't understand at all what I'm saying. They said that people who have started it within 24h of its GP addition can't make much of a difference and that is true. If 273,000 (I'm roundig a bit here so bear with me) started it until it hit GP and 40% of those haven't made it to England then 1,200 new players won't even change that number by a single percent, even if none of them made it to England. And while you're certainly right to expect that less people that are playing through GP will make it there looking at those numbers a day after it was added doesn't really mean much yet either as they barely even had time to get through the first section of the game.

Im more surprised that 275k people on this site have the game on their tag. Thats essentially 1 in every 5 people here. I would’ve figured that most people wouldve gotten sick of the ubisoft formula by this point

Am I wrong in remembering Ubi saying this game wouldn't be as bloated as others (before Mirage existed)? Then ended up the most bloated in the franchise.

I played the base game a good while, and want to return to finish it and the DLC/TU. It's quite a daunting thought, though.

I bought the complete edition or whatever it is called, the one with the dlc that should have been in the season pass, but wasn't. That was at least a couple of months ago. But I'm just too scared to get started... the game length is just so daunting, I just keep thinking "I'm not ready yet, I'm not ready yet". It doesn't help that I am not inherently interested in the setting (unlike Origins and Odyssey) and I've got all the older AC games unplayed in my backlog as well... many with far more interesting settings, *sigh*.

Truth be told, I am not certain its time for me will ever come... there's just so much to play, so much variety. Everytime I finish a game, I think "ohh I can knock this one out in just a few hours, let's do that"...

Well its rather common thing with long games that vast portion of players who play them never finish them. If I were to guess Valhalla's entry to Gamepass will only increase the amount of % who test the game out (like myself on my 2nd account so I dont trigger any achievement on my main accountlaugh) but never really play it far enough to get past prologue chapter especially considering how long it seems to be in Valhalla.

I 100% Valhalla awhile back. Was very fun tbh loved it, I love all assassins creeds though. I had no problems with getting the achievements to pop. I'd advise only to look out on the one dlc, I believe ragnarok. There is 1 collectable u can miss during the missing when u go into the glove thing. U can't replay that mission if u miss it. So just remember finish all that missions collectable stuff up before u finish the mission.

Game is good but it will break you. No matter how much you think it wont there will be a point the fun just dies and it becomes a slog
Well I can easily see that happening. There's been such overflow with open world games that anything that is of weaker design can quickly starts to taste like wood. Especially when common consensus seems to be even among AC fans that Origins and Odyssey offered more interesting story and open world than Valhalla

As someone who was studying this period during my degree, whilst playing this, even I found it weak and not very interesting, in parts. The god sections were boring.
