I hadn't finished the campaign of the "normal" version of GTA V, but I started playing the Japanese Version and working on the story. I was switching back to the "normal" version to help someone get their Doomsday Heists done because they wanted to do the Japanese stuff as well and it turned out that the achievements I was unlocking for the story in the Japanese Version was auto popping in the "normal" version once I loaded up the game and then switched to GTA Online.

Also, I did all 50 Stunt Jumps in an Invite Only session in the "normal" version and this achievement auto popped when I loaded up the Japanese Version. This means that I'll only need to do the campaign/single player stuff one time for the Xbox One/Japanese Version/and the Series X, which is actually pretty cool!
