After being a hater I have to say that Back 4 Blood is actually a very good game now.
Some good mentions here but State of Decay 2 might be the best zombie game ever made (yes I know the original resi evil 2 is god tier), where the hell is the third one disappeared to

I would personally recommend Dead Rising 3 over the OG if you've never played the franchise. Trying to use those garbage controllers for the first time in 2023 is always rough.

Can't recommend Dead Island 2 enough, some of the most fun I've had with a game in a long time!

I Made A Game With Zombies In It
  • Posted on 24 April 23 at 18:15
I was pleasantly surprised with how Dead Island 2 turned out. I've put about 15 hours in so far and have loved it. Definitely a significant upgrade over the original(s). Had ONE bug in the 15 hours and it was a puzzle type event where you flip valves to match a number and it was bugged to show a base 20 instead of base 0. Restarted the game and it was fixed.

I'm pretty sure if you tortured the truth any more, it would admit it faked the moon landing. laugh

No matter if the creatures are slow and braindead or bestowed with the agility of a cheetah, one thing is for certain — people seem to love chopping and blowing them into pieces.
I remember once hearing that people love killing zombies so much because they're almost human... almost. And it gives people a way to blow off steam in killing a bunch of pixels that don't fight back like in shooters or RPGs. Then again, whoever said that might just have psychopathic tendencies laugh

I've put maybe 30 hours or so and only one side mission issue. I left area and came back and it fixed itself. Surprised!

I've been meaning to play State of Decay 2. I remember it having mixed reception on launch, is that still true? Or did they make improvements

"The freedom offered by Dead Rising was delightful in many ways when it first arrived on the the OG Xbox"

Makes it sound like this arrived on the first Xbox. It didn't, it was on Xbox 360.

Definitely play State of Decay 2. I hated it at launch and uninstalled it but came back to it over a year later after several updates fixed it's problems and absolutely loved it. I have to hand it to undead labs for sticking to the game, fixing glitches and adding lots of post release content.
In fact if you haven't play the first State of decay, shouldn't take too long it's basically just one map and then the jump in quality to the 2nd game will be very noticeable.
Be careful playing the 2nd game multiplayer with randoms they'll probably ruin your game. Best to play solo or with a friend you're properly working together with.

State of Decay 2's coop is a joke and slap in the face of coop games. Why they designed it like it is beyond comprehension (It's not an actual coop, you are basically just a servant to the host, and tethering is very short, so if you go to far you are transported to the host). Otherwise its a great game.
I like Dying Light 1 far better than Dying Light 2. Dead Island 2 is great so far, about 15 hours in, but the main characters are pretty annoying. Why make this serious game and then have these slapstick characters in it that take nothing seriously? The comedy in Dead Rising games fits, it does not in this game.

I think World World Z and Resident Evil are my favorite zombie games, but that's not really fair because Resident Evil is really king with about 15 (give or take) solid entries in the series (out of 30 entries total). Resident Evil 1 and 2 legit helped spawn the second age of zombies in pop culture. It's pretty amazing if you think about it.
TIL: Having numbers instead of letters in a gamertag is edgy. Awesome!

I’ve been meaning to play State of Decay 2 although I’ve heard mixed thing about the multiplayer. Does it stand up to being decent in single player?

Also, thank you for not putting Back 4 Blood in here. laugh (and yes, I know it was mentioned under Left 4 Dead 2, nerds).

SoD2 is best in single-player: awesome combination of stealth and gunplay mechanics with some base-building and strategic team-building elements as well. Higher difficulty levels are a serious challenge that force you to play differently, not just MOAR of the same.

Multi-player is fun for me in small bursts, but as teammates are basically supporting the host, it's not as compelling imo. Hopefully SoD3 has more focus on the multiplayer aspect as it could be amazing with persistent worlds sort of like Grounded. Still, don't miss out on SoD2 single-player.

SoD2 has been in constant development since launch with major updates a couple times every year. It’s a far, far better game now.

Anyone who has played it in awhile, you now have the option to keep your communities and move existing survivors to and from your reserve pool. That’s huge. You never have to lose all those big stashes of rare guns and gear if you don’t want. Difficulty sliders for different categories make customizing your experience even easier (you can have high level numerous zombies while having green zone levels of resources to loot, for example). All the DLC is free now. The new Lethal difficulty is almost completely unfair for the true masochists.

Note if you set the game to Offline your start button actually pauses the game, which is super nice if you need to go do something irl.

Except for the Daybreak DLC I play the entire game in single player, I prefer it.

One of the funniest times in any game is four of you running around twating zombies with Frying Pans. Just hearing the clang of the pans on Z heads and everyone just laughing their tits off is brilliant.

Its just a shame Value are scared of 3s.
    Would you kindly...
