47 I've just received a new assignment. A client has lost hold of very sensitive data.
Your mission to track down the so called hacker, retrieve the data, destroy any equipment on the premises, and eliminate the target by any means necessary.
    Good Luck 47.

Why would someone do this? Remember when Axel Gembe leaked the source code to Half Life 2 and it delayed the game by half a year. We've already waited 9 years for a new GTA. Don't give them any more reason to slow production.

If anything, this is just free marketing for the game. I doubt it's a nightmare at all.
    Is It, though?

There are already people on here and reddit that don't seem to realise how game dev works, and they are all 'looks crap'

Being able to control the impression of your game is much much more important than 'free marketing'.
It's a problem when it delays the production of the game. See Half Life 2 source code leak.

Often wonder why dev work doesn't happen on a closed private intranet with absolutely no access to the internet.
Wouldn't be the first time that confidential files were kept on someone's unsecure laptop.

How does someone have access to so many files and even the source code laugh
Ask how this same guy also hacked Uber last week.
The funny think about that is all he literally did was call and pretend to be someone else, and ask for the password, and the person gave it to them, lmao. That's apparently a type of "hacking".
I believe that kind of breach is called social engineering
Isn't one of the main ways hackers gain access? They don't use fancy equipment like on the telly, they just blag details.

    For money.

They don't care about the game. They want the pay-off.

As if GTA VI requires free marketing anyway...

either the development schedule for the game will be put back, or take 2 suitage will have to spend a ton more hiring a seperate group of devs to make changes so the source code isn't used to create hacks for the online for months.

I imagine if this causes major delays for GTA VI then this guy is going to be infamous and hated by the community.

Might also be some basement neckbeard who's disgruntled over the mediocre Saints Row reviews.

It's about time we get a good Miami remake, this guy is probably hiding under 10 VPNs inside some abandoned building out in the woods.

Leaking the source code is huge. Despite how much we criticize Rockstar for milking GTA Online, the developers who work there don't deserve to go through this.

The odd thing is that GTA 5 was fun at the time it came out because it was unmatched to so much and the Xbox One OG was really only beginning it's hype train. Seeing the Xbox 360 pull off it's last horrah was awesome for it's time but looks like garbage when you look at it now.

The kicker is that nowadays, GTA 5 is pretty matched. It's outmatched even and out classed by other games in its genre. It's been nearly 10 years. The next game can't just be an unreleased GTA 5 expansion.

Probably some junior developer. Good luck finding another job like this once they identify you.
Pretty sure McDonald’s subway Taco Bell target plenty of jobs available!
Didnt realize all those places hired game developers...
are game developers too good to join the real world? 🧐
