Transfer Q - did something change?

Am aware its a 1 time transfer but
I thought there had been articles saying it had to be done by a certain date (like july 2022) and also that your Xbox One version would be whipped, with level returned to 0?

I cannot find such info now.
I did find on R* website though, that transfer is still possible?
and that Xbox One version is kept at the level it was transfered at (ie lvl99 would stay at lvl99)

Did they walk it back?
I even had people come up to me, when game came out at told me their character got reset when they tried to play with friends on the older console, after the transfer!
Feeling pretty gas lit right now.

They just very recently changed the transfer process so that you will keep your character on the Xbox One version after transferring to the Series X/S version (they are not synced between versions however, and progress separately at that point). So if you did the transfer and have your character on the Series X/S version then you should be fine. If you're not seeing your character on the Series X/S version I would maybe try again, perhaps something went wrong. That post you linked to is the right one to follow if you want to do this.

I don't think there was any deadline for doing this, at least as far as I have heard. They did have a deadline back when you could do Xbox 360 > Xbox One transfers and disabled the functionality at that point. But I haven't heard of any cutoff date for transferring from Xbox One > Series X/S.

I just done the transfer yesterday and i haven't checked but as far as i'm aware, they did change it so that it no longer wipes the progress on XB1 like it used to

I done it by loading into XB1 story mode, pausing and going along to 'GAME' and then the 4th option from bottom was something along lines of 'Upload save to Social Club' or something similar

Done that and then closed the game. Started the X/S version and loaded into story mode, it auto detected my uploaded save and began to autopop all story achievements

Then quit to main menu and selected the Online mode. This auto detected my online character and when it loaded into the online, the online achievements all autopopped too
