As I predicted, Microsoft has relented somewhat. The “More Activity” bonuses that were nerfed down to 1 & 2 points are back up to their previous 5 & 10 point values. smile

Unless they get rid of the delay I'm not reinstalling Edge.

I don't experience the delay. I just do normal searches. Even if I do half a dozen in quick succession, I still get full credit. I think the delay only kicks in if one does a search and then spams the suggested searches at the bottom rather than doing searches in tabs of one's own making.

I just tried to just use the search bar and typed for 2 comedians I haven't searched for yet, and it ate the searches, no points gained. So you are one of the lucky ones it seems. I'm on delay.

    That's too bad.

Edited to add: Just to be sure I didn't give you bum scoop, I tried a test. There was an article on TA about Sea of Thieves could set sail for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. I searched on each of the salient points brought up in the article. These were the first searches I did today. When I was done, I had 80 points on my dashboard for the daily search breakdown.

If those were the first searches of the 24-hour period then they might not show up until a 3rd has been done. It doesn't seem to behave consistently - sometimes they appear to register immediately, sometimes not, sometimes I can do 2 and then it stops, sometimes I can d 4 and then it stops . . . all very tedious.

Yeah, my first 4 searches are on the Bing App on my phone, and the first 2 are seemingly ignored, then the third one pops up a coin with +15. I think I had already done 12 searches before trying to use the search bar, as I set a timer. I get about 20 searches before I have to leave for work with this delay. I am not supposed to have my phone with me at work, but while I'm waiting for the students to fill the trash cans early in the lunch wave I sneak in 4 searches here and there.

You're fine Allgorythm, I just gave it a test this morning was all, just not fortunate to be without the delay. I usually use a single topic, go to where it says 'also searched for' and click the next one. This presents me with 20 other related search topics that I use on a scroll at the top. On the PC I use a few things and the list of 20 is generated by AI. It makes sure to tell me that.

this I've read a couple of times - you get 5 per search, I get 3 - which regions get which? 3 for UK, 5 for US?

Sorry, I'm in the US, so each of my searches are 5 points. If I go back to the Home page on the Bing app then back to my tabs and hit the next search, it pops up a +5 coin, but only if I go back Home. It's the only way I can tell if a search counted. Repeated taps on a search subject won't give me a confirmation. Back when I could do 20 searches rapid fire, it didn't matter. I'd get them done, check progress, and I'd have 100/100 for mobile.

no need to apologise - just wonder why it's different, it's not like currency exchange rates make the difference, it's just much more generous in the US - for whatever reason

I notice, also, if I click on the bonus activities—now reinstated to their previous 5 & 10 point values—I get credit for searches in addition to getting the points for the activity.

@allgorhythm - it's often done that if it results in a search but again, can't exactly say it's consistent!

I wasn't scientific about it but, like you, I got the impression it wasn't consistent.

Additionally, the first daily activity on the dashboard nowadays, more often than not, is a Bing search. I haven't checked that out to see if it counts towards the 150 points on PC or the 100 points on mobile. BTW, I find the new Bing features intrusive. One of these days, I'll have to figure how to turn them off.

The thing I find irritating is, when doing a quiz on mobile, it keeps popping up that I gained 5 points. These are lies, I get NO points even when it pops up the +5. It also keeps happening every single time, even with that quiz right below the sliding news stories. No points for that quiz for me, even upon completion.

I'm going to chime in one last time here and then I'm out
This is a deliberate act on the part of m$ to milk as much cash from its community as possible right now today so they have all the money in the world.
The only way this potentially, Potentially stops, is if a large enough subsection of gamers quit throwing money at them and quit playing these games with them.
Ever since they suspended my account, I've removed all rewards related items from both my phone and my consoles. I no longer purchase digital games, this includes the $4.99 games. I don't download any GamePass games, which is a little different matter, and when my printed out, stored GamePass codes run out, I'm done with the online b.s.
GamePass for me is trivial. I think on the 4 years that I've had I've played maybe 4 games from it that I Didn't already own. A large part of the games on there, I already have, and again, I purchase my games as physical media if at all possible.
Now with the Advent of straight up fleecing us, I will Only buy physical and I'll not make another day one purchase. From now on, any game I want,.I'll wait for anywar6, pick it up used in disc for and cut the flow of cash from me to m$.
Myself as an individual is not in any way shape or form going to raise a goose pimple on the donkey of m$. But if there's enough of a backlash, not really appropriate word here, but enough of an outcry and real actions taken, things might, MIGHT change. Most likely won't. But, I'm sure by now y'all have heard the generalized definition of insanity, correct?
Stop wasting your time with them and spend your money elsewhere.
I have. I now have a substantial Lego collection and I don't miss the daily searches, at all. Kind of takes a load off, especially I'm a traveling kind of guy and I'm on the road quite a bit. I actually feel relieved.
That's it, my 2 cents worth which ain't worth 2 cents, but to say nothing is then contributing to the delinquency of the f up that is m$.
