Great review. Wish it would contain some details about racing wheel support and how it feels.

    That’s awesome!!
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

I'm somewhat disappointed with just 20 tracks and the majority of these known since Forza Motorsport 2. Hope they bring a few more prestigious tracks in the future...

Nice review, cheers. I'm a like you with car games Sean, I prefer the relaxed vibe of Forza Horizon over Motorsport too. As such I've pre-downloaded on GP so just under a week until I can play. Looking forward to the new car progression system though.

I too prefer Horizion over Motorsport/Simulation, but the 'CarPG' aspect sounds like something that should be engaging and rewarding (something Forza 7 wasn't in my opinion). Anything that makes the game more fun and less of chore is a win in my book! No doubt it'll be great when played on a wheel, but here's hoping the controller experience is on point too!

The upgrade system is going to be really contentious, it will definitely be love it or hate it.

Hate to be a dick but it looks bare bones content wise outside of repeatedly doing car masteries, a system that is unnecessary even if it's good, personally I am still not convinced, seems like extreme bloating to me however well it's implemented, there was a similar system in FM4 of rating certain aspects of your racing and that gave you extra credits.

The graphics and physics were inevitable, they were always going to be good.

Track selection is poor, Project CARS 2 with a smaller budget did better than the XB1 FM's in that regard and this is a further step back, no Nurburgring at launch for the first time ever in a FM game as well.

Other than the graphics + physics I am really struggling to see what's taken 6 years to come up with.

I guess you've just got to hope that the new upcoming tracks are released before you get bored with those in the initial release, however, if the physics are good, and can very rarely get bored, especially as all the tracks have dynamic ToD and weather.

FWIW, PC2 was a terrible, terrible game!.

the lack of tracks really hurts and the fact that the first one they are bringing back is yas "worst race track on earth" marina hurts even more

the tracks they are launching with are mostly very good at least, excepting silverstone. i did not expect to see watkins glen back and am thrilled it is in there as it's my favorite race track. i hope we get brands hatch back soon.
