What's Vampyr like? It's at a decent price and I've already got a majority of the other games on sale.

I’ve been eyeing Monstrum and Get Even for awhile now. Can anyone recommend them as an absolutely must play?
Yes Get Even is my favourite game on the xbox one and is criminally underrated, for that price it's a steal
Thanks. I'm picking up Get Even. I'm always on the lookout for a good stealth game and the price is right..
Also, thank you for the feedback. I’m about done being engrossed in Riftbreaker so I need a good horror game for Halloween that has an ending to play next.

It's unpolished, the story isn't very interesting, and the combat is janky as hell.

That said, I still enjoyed it for what it was and if you can put up with the weirdness in both mechanics and story, it's an entertaining game. Depends on your tolerance for sub-perfection I guess, which looking around at some of these replies does not seem to be most peoples' strong suit.

Like you, I wanted a horror game for Halloween. I saw The Sinking City (Xbox One) on the Shocktober Sale & picked it up—huge discount. I noted there was a Series X exclusive as well. It was not on sale & somewhat pricey but I cashed in 92K Rewards points for a 100 USD XBox gift card & am now playing it.

I’m pleased with my choice. It appears to be a sequel to Call of Cthulhu - a 360 GwG offering that I played a few months ago. Surprising—different publishers & developers. The Sinking City is even better than Call of Cthulhu which I enjoyed. Currently, I plan to play it thru Halloween & then stack it with the X1 version from the Shocktober sale.

I’ve been waiting on that one to make sure I bought the version the devs would be paid for… and just never could keep them straight and was too lazy to look them up. It’s a good choice though, I watched a dev play a section of it on video, seemed really up my alley.

The Series X version is self-published. So, all proceeds go to the developers. This is one of the reasons I purchased the Series X version despite its high price. Moreover, I got the The Sinking City Xbox Series X|S Deluxe Edition which is 15 USD more than the regular version.

The X1 version is published by Nacon. Frogwares, the developer, and Nacon are currently in a legal dispute. I'm trusting that the legal dispute will be resolved in a fair and equitable manner. Nevertheless, if you have concerns, get the Series X version. All proceeds go to Frogwares. Under normal circumstances, it's priced comparably to the X1 version. But, because it was not included in the Shocktober sale, it is currently much more expensive. It is, however, the better version.

This is an incredibly lackluster sale, to put it mildly. A ton of the best, most expected games not included & pricing that is generally higher than previous lows (im sure there are an exception or three, but overall MEH). MS should have done a Rewards promo to sweeten the pot a bit.

They did a rewards promo for the Shocktober movies & TV sale but, unfortunately, as you point out, not for the games sale.

I usually don’t go in for the movie promos anymore as either the sales aren’t good or the titles available are bad/I have the good ones. However the Shocktober sale this year included tons of amazing stuff at very low prices. For those who don’t know, Gamepass Ultimate will knock $1-2 off some titles (these are marked as Gamepass when you see the lower price).

I spent $35 on movies and could have easily spent 3x that whereas I bought 1x $5 game.

The game sale was disappointing. I was very interested in The Sinking City (Xbox One) & picked it up for 80% off. But I was disappointed that the The Sinking City for the Series X was not included in the sale. So, I cashed in some rewards points, got a gift card, & shelled out 68 USD to pick it up. Ironically, the game—that perfectly fit the Shocktober theme—went on sale for 50% off as soon as Halloween was over.

I’m not upset. I knew the risks. It had been my original intent to wait for the Black Friday sale which tends to have the best discounts. I just really wanted to play Sinking City for Halloween. Although I intend to stack the games, I wanted to play the Series X version first. This personal foible cost me the 34 USD I could have saved if I’d waited for a sale. facepalm
