Been looking forward to this but had to check the review out as some has already voted it as 0.5 on the achievement page

Yeah I don't know what game I played cos there's no way on Earth this game is an 8/10. I'd give it maybe a 2/10 at best.
You only have to use major functions like the pathing tool, or coaster builder, or building creator tool once to see how bad it is imo.

How's it compare to planet coaster? I'm enjoying that at the moment, are there any USP's for park beyond?

Looks a lot like Planet Coaster which I loved. It pick this up on a good sale if it turns out to be good.

Two of my favorite video games of all time are "Thrillville" and "Thrillville: Off the Rails." And, thanks to the power of Microsoft's backwards compatibility program, I can enjoy those games for the rest of my days.

I was so excited for "Planet Coaster." Aaaaand then it sucked. For me, anyway. I'm genuinely happy that the game has its fans; sadly, I'm not one of them.

So it is with much more reserved optimism that I approach "Park Beyond." Based on the previews I've watched, the reviews I've read, and the research I've done, it appears to be a spiritual successor to "Thrillville," which makes me happy.

Fingers crossed because, much like Fox Mulder, I want to believe.

I'll first try out the two hour trial before I buy it.

Glad to see it get a solid review. Hope it comes to GP at some point, but if not I'll just wait for a complete edition as I always enjoy these kind of games.

The only USP is the "impossification" stuff where you make coasters do jumps and stuff. Other than that Planet Coaster not only already does everything Park Beyond does, Planet Coaster does it much better.
PB is like a budget version of PC, where they copied everything PC already does, and then made it all worse.

I'm curious cos I'm completely the other way, I love Planet Coaster but I despised Thrillville. What don't you like about PC? And do like about Thrillville?
Just wondering what type of game you are looking for because this is much closer to PC than Thrillville.

You know how certain games come along and you can just lose yourself in them? You pick up the controller, and before you know it, hours have passed. You're not aware of it. You're not cognizant of it. The controller becomes an extension of you, and it just seems effortless.

"Thrillville" and "Thrillville: Off the Rails" are like that for me. For me, they were seamless from the very beginning. Even "Zoo Tycoon," made by the same developer as "Planet Coaster," had that effect on me. I still adore "Zoo Tycoon."

When "Planet Coaster" came along, I couldn't have been more excited. Unfortunately, I was pretty much let down from the very start. While the game looks amazing, I found the user interface to be clunky. Way to busy. It took me too long to accomplish certain easy tasks. In short, everything felt like a chore, from the smallest minutia to the biggest set builds.

Where "Thrillville" and "Zoo" felt welcoming and fun, "Planet" felt needlessly complicated and NOT fun.

I tried! Oh, I tried. I gave it about three hours. Just fiddling with it. Attempting to get into that familiar rhythm. The zone, if you will.

It never happened. As my frustration rose, the sense of novelty quickly dissipated. Whatever its strengths, "Planet Coaster" didn't jive with my gaming sensibilities. And no one was more disappointed about this turn of events than me!

"Planet Coaster" has its fans, and I think that's great. I don't wish to condemn the game at all. The two of us just didn't mix. It happens! I'm hoping "Park Beyond" is a return to form. I've got the demo downloaded, so, hopefully, that will give me a sense of whether I jive with the main game.

Fair enough, valid points, each to their own as they say!
I can see why you might find Planet Coaster clunky if playing on a controller. I've only ever played it on PC so I can't really speak on the clunkiness on console, but I can pretty much agree without even playing it, I've never played a game of this type (park or city builder, RTS etc.) that has controlled nicely on a controller, you just have to be on keyboard and mouse imo.

I think the complexity of Planet Coaster is what I love about it, there's so much you can do with it once you get into it but this takes a long time, 3 hours doesn't even scratch the surface. It's definitely not a pick up and play game, it's one that takes a long time to master, but I think that's the trade-off for the depth and creativity it has once you get past that initial hurdle.

But I can totally understand why a more casual player (that's not a dig at you btw! I just mean people who aren't fussed about spending an hour making one building, or 4 hours making a coaster) would be really turned off by this, they just want to pop down stuff easily and build a whole park in a few days but for people who are really into it like me, that depth is what makes it great.

As I said though, to each their own. Hopefully you like Park Beyond but as I said, it is much closer to Planet Coaster than Thrillville, it's like 90% copying PlanCo tbh, down to the UI, controls and everything, except it does it all even worse, so I would set your expectations very low!

I must admit I'm struggling to get in to this, my main problem is the 'text size' in the game for me its completely unreadable which for me is a real shame as the game itself has a really fun premise

8/10? Now I know opinions differ but this is no way on Earth an 8/10 in anyone's book,. The game is broke, paths merging ends up in a mess of path and grass, the controls are clunky, it stutters like mad and I literally got 20mins into playing and HAD to give up on it. Planet Coaster is a hell of a lot better than this..

I'd honestly struggle to give it a 3/10... Avoid like the plague until this game receives at least 10 updates.

And I hate giving negative reviews out like this as I was genuinely expecting it to be much better... It seems worse than the beta I played a month ago... How is that possible?

Just finished and can't give it high marks either. The campaign is fun but as you start going for some of the misc achievements and as your park gets bigger it gets pretty much unplayable due to lagging and crashes to dashboard. Also the management aspects don't seem to be all that balanced, one minute your are making a healthy profit and your guest numbers are going up and the next it is completely the opposite for no apparent reason. I'm glad I just rented it and didn't actually buy it.
