Seemingly in the minority but started it last month, have put about 40 hours in and I am really enjoying it. Hope some folk find the same level of fun I have so far. I haven't liked all the assassin's creeds. But this odessey and origins have been great.
Compared to Odyssey and Origins I don’t think the quality even comes close. Valhalla was a massive disappointment for most people but I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I wish I could’ve

Agree. If you are a casual player, sure, go for it! It's a beautiful game and you might have fun for a while. If you want to complete it, it's the most boring Assassin's Creed ever made. And I have played every single one of them and some more than once! laugh

It also has the absolutely worst DLC ever released for the series with the Mastery Challenges. Well done whoever designed those, you trully suck at making games! laugh

I was an AC fanboy, this game broke me. I put a ton of hours in but I realized after like 200 of doing the same damn thing over and over mixed with bullshit filler content that I was over it. The Miles saga nostalgia wore off with Valhalla. Layla sucked as a current day protag, Eivor was way too dull, especially after having Bayek and Alexios, and the mystery got too convoluted and felt forced. Its worth giving it a shot, don't get me wrong, just remember its an Ubi game - so you've probably played it before hahaha
Yes, this is the game that has the power to break you and make you have a series you once loved. I survived it and thnakfully Mirage was everything I wanted! Whenever you feel like going back to the series, give it a go, it's nothing like Valhalla!
It is beautiful and the most fun I had was photo mode, and someone that is a casual player probably would enjoy it but compared to Origins and Odyssey, the game was a massive disappointment. It broke me within 20 hours and I just went back to odyssey and purchased the dlc to get my AC fix

It's one of the few games that'll let you one hand and dual wield great swords. The only other games I can think that lets me do this are From Software games like Demon's Soul, Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring. I know there are others, but I can't think of em atop my head.

This game showed me that there is such a thing as making a game too large and too long. It's a completionists nightmare and it's not even as fun as Origins or Odyssey.

I'd have to strongly disagree. I found Origins to be boring and dull for most of it. I think part of that, for me, is the environment. Egypt is a beautiful place, but I find dessert environments get boring really quick. There is some diversity here and there, but it's like 80% sand.

Odyssey is certainly an improvement of over Origins. Boat combat wasn't that great though. Ubisoft needs to stop trying to put boat combat into every AC title. I haven't played the latest title so idk if it's in that. Black Flag was peak ship combat for the series, and I don't think they're going to catch that lightning in a bottle again.

I think Valhalla is a lot more fun combat wise. Thankfully they give you a lot of freedom to adjust how it plays so it doesn't feel like a wannabe souls-like at times. And I'm glad to have the hidden blade actually work when I use it even if an enemy is higher level than me.

I am glad we're moving away from the level system of this trilogy of titles. I like Assassin's Creed more as an action adventure than full on rpg.

Also, anything that lets me one-hand or dual wield great swords. That adds a lot for me.

Great game and a hell of a completion. Forgotten Saga mode is awesome fun. Just wish the combat was as fun as Odyssey.

I like the game, I don't like the hassle of collecting every single wealth/artifact on a massive map.
Exactly the reason why I retired from this series almost a decade ago. Couldn’t continue on any from the 4th game

EDIT: Also got disgusted by some gross Final Fantasy craps from a recent game. Cross-overs are stupid to break atmospheres of the original game

I can't bring myself to play these massive single player RPGs anymore, I realized this when I played GTAV and The Witcher 3.

Let alone it being an Assassins Creed game, more repetitive than a Far Cry game.

Again the numbers are way different, than all those cry out comments. Stop being assholes, and see Valhalla for what it is. An beautiful open world game, that sold better than any other AC game before. We heard all your bloat comments back in the day. I honestly think, that you guys are brutally unthankful.

Play it if you have trouble falling asleep at night.

One of the rare games I can't force myself to go back to and complete all the DLC.

I'm with you there, I lost hours quickly sucked into that.

I appreciate we're on the internet but a lot of negativity here.

It's beautiful but absurdly big as a game; I think this site is the wrong audience almost, you could easily get burn-out trying to complete everything. As for the masteries, the site we're on has a DLC's started only setting for completion... try that!

Completed all mainline AC games. This one is the longest at 297 hours for me. Enjoyed all the DLCs too. Ragnarok was fab. Wrath of Druids and Forgotten Saga too. Paris probably the weakest but still enjoyable.
Mirage was welcome being much much shorter, wouldn't have liked to do another long one after Origins and Odyssey.

I really don't seem to share most people's opinions on the reboot.

I liked Origins, disliked Odyssey and loved Valhalla. These new AC games are all very long and massive, is Valhalla way too big? Sure. Is it much bigger than the others? Not really.

It's just a very large open world, you're going to have to clock in over 100 hours to complete it to a full extent. If you're not willing to do that, then look somewhere else. I, for one, loved the story, the setting and out of the three sceneries, I think it's the most beautiful, or at the very least has some of the most beautiful landmarks, also Stonehenge.

Odyssey had this build system that was just terrible for the new games, they made you choose between poison, bleeding, fire builds... just a big mistake. I don't know if they patched that all out after release. I don't play AC games to go for poison meta bullshit.

And I hate sailing. I'm really glad they made the drakkar experience in Valhalla substantially more marginal.

I completed Valhalla, but it were more of a drag to complete than Odyssey.

If Valhalla came first of the 3 it wouldn't be rated as the worst.
People got bored of this formula after Origins and Odyssey.

UBI's problem in general is that they are trying to innovate too much and fails every time. UBI is also too focused in shoe horning in new features that ruins their games.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the only game UBI ever cared about fixing.
In fact you can choose to play it as Wildlands or Breakpoint.
