Developer Poncle has announced Emergency Meeting, a new Among Us-themed DLC that's coming to Vampire Survivors — one of the best games on Game Pass — on December 18.

The new DLC includes a bunch of new Among Us characters to play as, new weapons, a new stage, and more. However, Poncle has confirmed that there will be no new Vampire Survivors achievements to unlock with Emergency Meeting for a pretty good reason.

In an FAQ post, Poncle explains that because the expansion is a collaboration with the Among Us team, it didn't want to add any new achievements in case Emergency Meeting stopped being sold in the future, which would leave players who hadn't bought the DLC unable to achieve a 100% completion in Vampire Survivors.

"It's problematic enough to have achievements in our own DLCs, but those we can easily discount often and do giveaways with, basically we're in full control of them," says Poncle. "Collabs are different, there will be different business guidelines we'll have to follow to make and publish them, which means there will always be a risk that some achievements might one day far into the future become impossible to obtain, or sit behind a price tag too steep to some players.

"If there will ever be a way to separate DLC achievements from base-game achievements, then rest assured we will add separate achievement lists for every DLC, either collab or proprietary, but until then we prefer to play it safe and not risk to compromise anyone's completion rate."

It's not often we see this kind of forward-thinking (at least publicly) from a developer when it comes to achievements, and Poncle has to be commended here. Too many achievement lists have been tainted over the years by licenses expiring and corresponding content that will often include achievements pulled from the game.

As for what is included with the DLC, Emergency Meeting launches on December 18, adding nine playable Among Us characters, 15 new weapons, a new stage which is a replica of the Polus map in Among Us, new music, and "some surprises."
