It looks as though the protagonist for Assassin's Creed Red, the codename for Ubisoft's open-world RPG set in feudal Japan, might have just been revealed.

Details on Ubisoft's "next premium flagship title," codenamed Assassin's Creed Red, are thin on the ground so far — although it looks as though Ubisoft might have briefly given us a look at the game's protagonist.
The (brief) glimpse of what could be Assassin's Creed Red's protagonist came from writer Pierre Boudreau, who shared the image as a header on their LinkedIn page. The header has now reverted back to a picture of Valhalla's Eivor, but not before the new image had been snapped up and shared across the internet. You can check it out below (thanks, Eurogamer).

ubisoft seemingly reveals assassins creed red protagonist

We know Assassin's Creed Red will let players "live a very powerful shinobi fantasy," but not too much beyond that. On the one hand, we'd all obviously love more details; on the other, the scarce info on the game so far gives us room to speculate on Assassin's Creed might learn from the past to build a better future for the series with Red.

Boudreau's LinkedIn page does confirm that they're working on Assassin's Creed Project Red, and we'll keep an eye out for more news on Ubisoft's upcoming open-world RPG. In the meantime, the Assassin's Creed franchise has just headed to the Golden Age of Baghdad for Basim's story; if you're yet to try this one, check out our Assassin's Creed Mirage review for more info.
