The TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2023 tournament is over! 32 of the best games of the year entered the fray, but now only one remains victorious. And your winner is...

Alan Wake 2

Congratulations to Alan Wake 2 on a well-earned victory, defeating Starfield, the favorite to win it in our eyes, in the final showdown. 2,558 people voted in the final round and Alan Wake 2 managed to secure 57.23% of the vote. Before that, it managed to best Baldur's Gate 3 in honorable combat too, so no one can say it had an easy ride to the top.

It's a worthy winner too. It was my personal game of the year (see out TA Team GOTY picks article for our full list, which has surprisingly little overlap with the rest of this tournament). The sequel was 13 years in the making, and somehow worth the wait. It manages to be a thrilling detective mystery, intense action game, and terrifying horror experience all at once. We can see from our stats that despite picking up the win here, only 31,959 of you have played it yet, so let this be the final push that you need.
