Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched back in April, and one thing that we noted in our first impressions of the game was how poor its 60 FPS performance mode was. Now, after seven updates, the game is finally in a place where if you want to start unlocking the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor achievements while playing at a buttery smooth 60 FPS, you can.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch 7 completely reworks Performance mode

According to Respawn, Patch 7 for Survivor brings "several" performance-related improvements to the game on Xbox Series X|S, including a complete rework of Survivor's 60 FPS Performance mode. Respawn says numerous GPU and CPU optimizations and disabling ray tracing have resulted in a "better player experience" and a "solid 60 FPS Performance mode."

After installing the update on my Xbox Series X, I jumped back into Survivor to see if the reworked Performance mode really did offer a "solid 60 FPS" experience.

Most of the performance issues I ran into in my first playthrough several months ago were on Koboh, specifically in Pyloon's Saloon, Rambler's Reach, and the surrounding area. In both Performance and Quality modes, my frame rate would tank, sometimes to near unplayable levels when enemies were in abundance. Now, with the update installed, Survivor's Performance mode is near-flawless. Sure, there is the odd hiccup here and there, and textures still load slowly, but the game's frame rate is now much more stable and is more in line with what you'd expect from a Performance mode. In combat, again, performance here is excellent, and it's hard to find fault. Respawn has done an excellent job with this patch, but it's a shame this wasn't available at launch or shortly after. As for Quality mode, this also appears to be in better shape and stutters less.

For those who were put off by Survivor's shaky performance when it first came out, with Patch 7 installed, now is absolutely the time to revisit the game and continue Cal Kestis' journey.

Elsewhere, Patch 7 makes tweaks to the save system to prevent save game corruption and includes various bug fixes and improvements, including fixes for cloth, lighting, and UI.

Respawn recently confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would also be coming to Xbox One.
