Safer Seas are new private PvE enemy servers that allow you and your crew to explore the world of Sea of Thieves without having to worry about other players coming for your booty.

While the thought of pirate-free seas will appeal to many, achievement hunters may want to stick with the main game mode (now known as High Seas), as Rare has now confirmed that a lot of the Sea of Thieves achievements will not be available to unlock in Safer Seas.

Safer Seas offers almost the full Sea of Thieves experience, though due to the lack of other crews and reduced risk, there are reduced rewards. As there are no other crews in Safer Seas, content built around PvP (Faction battles, Skull of Siren Song Voyage, The Reaper's Bones Trading Company, etc) doesn't exist, along with their corresponding Xbox achievements. Progression has also been reduced in Safer Seas — the payout rate for Gold and reputation has been slashed to just 30%, and Trading Company reputation levels are capped at level 40. This, of course, means you won't be able to obtain the rank of Pirate Legend in the mode, nor get involved with the Athena's Fortune Trading Company.

Rare says these limitations are in place to "maintain a balance between Safer and High Seas, and to encourage players to try out both modes to see which suits their play style and needs." Despite the reduced content, Rare says, "Safer Seas presents a world alive with opportunities, whether it’s diving into Sea of Thieves lore through the Tall Tales, spending an undisturbed evening working on your fishing skills, or getting to grips with the game’s combat mechanics by taking on veritable hordes of skeletons."

The developer has also handily listed all 63 of the Xbox achievements you will not be able to unlock in Safer Seas. Check out the full list (it's a big one) below:
