Following its launch, Capcom released a steady stream of high-quality titles from the series, including Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Village, and executed a flexible pricing strategy that leveraged digital sales. Moreover, the company promoted the overall brand with regular content releases — such as the live-action Resident Evil series that began streaming today, July 14, on Netflix — propelling cumulative sales of Resident Evil 2 to surpass 10 million units worldwide."This makes it Capcom's third biggest game, with Resident Evil 7 in the second spot, and Monster Hunter: World as Capcom's biggest game ever with 18 million units sold. Resident Evil 2 isn't too far off Resident Evil 7, however, as Resident Evil 7 has sold 10.80 million units, while Resident Evil 2 has now crossed over 10 million units sold.Just last month, three Resident Evil games received Xbox Series X|S upgrades, including Resident Evil 2.
