Quake 2 Remastered leaks ahead of QuakeCon 2023

By Sean Carey,

South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee appears to have leaked a remastered version of id Software's classic first-person shooter Quake 2.

As spotted by Gematsu, Quake 2 Remastered was recently rated by South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee. The game hasn't officially been announced, but we could potentially see a reveal during QuakeCon 2023 in August.

Quake 2 Remastered rated in South Korea

Quake 2 Remastered rated ahead of Quakecon 2023

Back in 2021, the remastered version of Quake was also leaked ahead of an official reveal at QuakeCon by the South Korean rating board and the ESRB. The remastered version was updated with 4K visuals, widescreen resolution support, enhanced models, dynamic and colored lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, and more. Hopefully, Quake 2 Remastered will also see similar improvements.

The rating for Quake 2 Remastered currently only lists PC as a platform, but we'd expect it to come to consoles and Game Pass just like the remaster of the first game. Hopefully, we'll hear more about Quake Remastered 2 during QuakeCon, which runs from August 10 to 13.
