Microsoft's ongoing plans to focus on the Xbox Series X|S will see the Xbox 360 Store close on July 29, 2024. Earlier this year the company revealed that its first-party studios are no longer developing games for Xbox One, so ending support for the Xbox 360 Store, which will be 18 years old in November, seems like a logical step.

On July 29, 2024, both the Xbox 360 Store on console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace will close, stopping the ability to purchase new games, DLC, and other entertainment content. Microsoft has made it clear, however, that all of the games and DLC you've purchased up until that date will still be playable, you'll still be able to download deleted games, and if a game's servers are still live, you'll be able to play online. Additionally, you can still buy backwards compatible Xbox 360 games and DLC on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as they're available via a separate storefront.

The Xbox 360 was a remarkable time in Xbox's history, so it's certainly sad to see the Xbox 360 store come to an end, no matter how logical it may seem. For this week's poll, we want to know: do you agree it's time for the Xbox 360 Store to close? Let us know by voting and dropping a comment below. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Tom has been playing video games since he was old enough to hold a controller, experimenting with a number of systems until he eventually fell in love with Xbox. With a passion for the platform, he decided to make a career out of it, and now happily spends his days writing about that which he loves. If he’s not hunting for Xbox achievements, you’ll likely find him somewhere in The Elder Scrolls Online or fighting for survival in Battlefield.
