Payday 3 release date leak suggests Xbox launch is a few months out

By Tom West,

The Payday 3 release date has seemingly been leaked, and according to the leaker, we can expect a reveal for the first-person shooter next week.

Overkill Software's next heist-based shooter, Payday 3, will reportedly launch on September 21, according to reliable data miner Aggiornamenti Lumia. Other reports have apparently suggested a September 18 release, so whether that is related to an early access period, we'll have to wait and see. Either way, Lumia's source suggests a reveal will take place on June 11, so there is a possibility it'll make an appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase or PC Games Show.

Payday 3 teaser trailer

Payday 3 sees the return of Chains, Dallas, Hoxton, and Wolf in the years following the events of Payday 2. The crew has retired at this point but returns to a life of crime in search of a good payday. With times having changed somewhat since their original heisting days, the awesome foursome will need to gear up with new devices if they're going to fill their pockets in this new digital age. Cryptocurrencies, the Dark Web, mass surveillance, and software giants are now the target of the day, so we can probably expect to be raiding server rooms and the like in Payday 3.

We shouldn't have too much longer to wait until we see gameplay, as Overkill has promised that it'll be revealed this summer, which lines up with the recent rumors. Fingers crossed that we'll see the heisting action on June 11th!
