Pocket Pair has announced that its "multiplayer, open-world survival crafting game" Palworld — or 'Pokémon with guns,' as players have lovingly dubbed it — will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass on January 19.

If you're looking to scratch that monster-taming itch and have already played the best Xbox games like Pokémon, Palworld might be worth checking out when it releases next week. Palworld, as the name suggests, is heavily focused on its Pokemon-esque monsters known as Pals, but unlike other creature-collecting games, you'll be able to do much more than fighting with your companions when collecting the Palworld achievements.

According to Palworld's Steam page, it is an open-world multiplayer game that can be played solo, co-op for up to four players, or via dedicated 32-player servers for a mass-multiplayer experience. Over 100 Pals can be found on your adventures, and while you can use your Pals to fight off poachers from the dangerous world, battle larger, more dangerous Pals, and explore dungeons, you can also use them as a workforce. Pals can be used as mounts, set to work on factory lines, used to build magnificent structures, help you with farming, or even eaten... you monster!

Embark on an open-world adventure through Palworld, where you can discover and capture over 100 Pals! Unveil the secrets of this mysterious land, overcome formidable bosses, and build powerful bases. Use your Pals to do tasks for you and automate entire production lines.
We had hoped to be playing Palworld last year, but developer Pocket Pair dropped a trailer during Summer Game Fest revealing that the game would be arriving in Early Access in January 2024 on Steam, with no mention of its Xbox counterpart. Thankfully, it looks like the team has made more progress than it had anticipated, as Palworld seems to be launching in full on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One next week.

While multiplayer will be supported at launch, and you'll be able to trade Pals with your... pals, the Steam page says that PvP battles won't be arriving until a later date, as well as larger multiplayer servers.

Similar to Pocket Pair's Craftopia, Palworld will be launching straight into Xbox Game Pass when it releases on January 19, joining Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2 as just some of the games coming to Game Pass this month. Don't forget, you have just five days to finish off the four games leaving the service soon.
