Update:
Microsoft has now dismissed rumors that an Xbox Series X|S version of Minecraft is coming soon.

A Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer, "Given the number of platforms and geographies in which Minecraft is available, we periodically go through rating reviews and updates with different regional boards.

"This recent rating is not indicative of any new versions or platform support for Minecraft in the near future."

Original story:
For those hoping for yet another stack of Minecraft achievements, you may well be in luck as the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) recently rated Minecraft for Xbox Series X|S, which suggests an enhanced version of the game (and possibly a new list of achievements) could be on the way.

Minecraft gets ESRB rating for Xbox Series X|S version

Spotted by Andrew Marmo on X, the ESRB listing doesn't really give us anything new to go on outside of the new platform, but this is actually the second rating spotted for Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S in recent weeks — the game was rated for current-gen Xbox consoles in Germany last month.

One feature that could be coming to Minecraft with this Xbox Series X|S version is ray tracing. In 2020, Microsoft teased ray tracing for Minecraft when revealing more on the Xbox Series X. Last year, Mojang released a preview build of Minecraft to Xbox Insiders on Xbox Series X|S consoles that included ray tracing support. However, Mojang was quick to pull ray tracing from the preview, stating it had "inadvertently included prototype code" for the feature.
