Xbox Game Pass no-show could finally join service soon

By Sean Carey,

Originally down for a winter 2022 Xbox Game Pass launch, Annapurna Interactive's first-person puzzle game Maquette could finally be about to join the service.

Maquette was first announced for Xbox during Annapurna's showcase last year, where it was revealed that we could expect the puzzle game to join Xbox Game Pass in winter 2022. Maquette never did make it to Game Pass and is still absent from the service to this day, but a new Game Pass notification that some subscribers have been receiving suggests it could finally join the service soon.

Maquette could be about to join Xbox Game Pass

As spotted by MauroNL and others on Twitter, users have received a notification from the Xbox Game Pass app that suggests Maquette will soon be available to play with the service. It's unclear when exactly it will join Game Pass, and an official release date has not yet been announced, though the notification says, "Maquette, Common'hood, and more are ready with new obstacles to overcome as you pursue greater ambitions." Common'hood joined Xbox Game Pass today.

We have seen this before with Shadow Warrior 3. Back in January, users began receiving similar notifications to the one above before the bloody first-person shooter joined Game Pass a month later.

According to developer Graceful Decay, Maquette is a "first-person recursive puzzle game that takes you into a world where every building, plant, and object are simultaneously tiny and staggeringly huge. Maquette makes it possible by twisting the world into itself recursively in an MC Escher-esque fashion.

"You will explore the scales of everyday problems in a modern-day love story. Where sometimes the smallest of issues can become insurmountable obstacles."

If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, be sure to check out all the other new games coming to Game Pass in July and beyond.
