Bethesda's Indiana Jones game now Xbox exclusive after multiplatform deal change

By Heidi Nicholas,

As part of the Microsoft/Activision and FTC trial, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed that MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones game had initially been intended for multiple consoles before becoming an Xbox and PC exclusive.

Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard continues to be analysed in great depth — during the ongoing case between Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Hines discussed how Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda had ensured Xbox exclusivity for the new Indiana Jones game.

MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones game confirmed to be Xbox exclusive

The Indiana Jones game in question, which was announced back in 2021 as in development from MachineGames and in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, is likely some way off still, yet it has clearly been under some discussion at Bethesda. Hines confirmed (thanks, The Verge) that Disney initially had an agreement for the upcoming Indiana Jones game to come to multiple consoles but that this was changed to make the game exclusive to Xbox and PC after Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda. Hines also said the game is set to launch into Xbox Game Pass.

We haven't seen anything of that MachineGames' Indiana Jones game except for a clip with the image above, which arrived with the game's announcement in 2021, and that it will be executive produced by Todd Howard in partnership with Lucasfilm Games.
