As per a new report from VGC, multiple anonymous development sources have confirmed that an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel was in early development at Ubisoft Quebec, but Ubisoft leadership decided to cancel the follow-up earlier this month due to "perceived challenges around establishing the IP."

Ubisoft has reportedly canceled an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel

Immortals Fenyx Rising launched in 2020 and has you play as a winged demigod that sets out on a quest to rescue the Greek gods. According to various rumors floating around last year, it was believed that the sequel would move away from Greek mythology and focus on Polynesian mythology instead.

According to VGC's sources, future plans for the IP were brought into question when Ubisoft decided to shift its focus toward its bigger brands. Earlier this year, Ubisoft canceled three unannounced games and revealed a change in strategy that would see the company focus on strengthening its major IP and live services.

When approached for comment, Ubisoft told VGC that the company "does not comment on rumors or speculation.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is currently playable with Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft's own subscription service Ubisoft+.
