How to unlock the Hell of a Sheriff achievement

    First off, you have to complete the first three scenarios before you unlock No Way Out. The good news is, while the three scenarios are tough, you can beat them using the "Training" difficulty, which makes it a lot easier. If you're having issues, I recommend just doing the first three in Training.

    However, you will have to play on the regular difficulty on the fourth scenario you unlock, No Way Out, in order for the achievement.

    You're stuck in the small gas station, with an infinite handgun and a healing item. You must defeat 100 enemies (all zombies, as well as the special zombies you see in the other three scenarios) in order to beat it.

    There are no huge tricks to beating it, and it can be a bit difficult (though I managed to beat it without too much trouble on my second try after learning from my mistakes my first time). But, here are some tips and things to know.


    - You'll mainly be using your handgun. If you're getting overwhelmed, keep moving, and don't forget that you can shoot zombies in the knees to cause them to either stumble (allowing you to run past) or they'll end up on the floor, crawling around. This can be useful, especially since there's not a whole lot of room to run around.

    - Zombies will occasionally drop backpacks, which you can see on their back prior to defeating them. These contain weapons with limited ammo, healing and defense items.

    - You are able to discard your weapons in this mode. So, if you run out of your Rocket Launcher after picking one up from a Backpack, make sure to Discard it and make room in your inventory.

    - Zombies can also be carrying an explosive "backpack." You can shoot it on it's back to cause it to explode of course. However, you can also shoot a zombie enough and cause them to drop the explosive backpack wherever they fall (recommend the knees). This can be useful as you can get these zombies to strategically drop their explosives next to a door, or wherever you prefer, and use it later when you start to get overwhelmed.

    - Pale Zombies and Armored Poison Zombies are probably the worst threat. For Pale Zombies, the ones that are.. well.. pale (and don't really seem to have much of a face or any clothes), I recommend using special weapons you get from backpacks, or shooting an explosive next to one. Pale Zombies take a lot of regular handgun ammo to kill, so you usually should be trying to save other weapons for them and the Armored Poison Zombies (though don't be afraid to use other guns if you're overwhelmed with zombies).

    - The guns I ran into from backpack drops were the Rocket Launcher (with 2 rockets), the MAC-10, shotguns, the Chemical Thrower, and the Spark Shot. The last two can be useful, but be very weary of them. The Chemical Thrower does work well on the Pale Zombies and armored zombies, but it takes awhile for them to go down from it, so it's easy to be grabbed if you're not careful. Same with the Spark Shot. I was however able to defeat a few Pale Zombies and armored zombies with it, especially during times where there were only a few zombies in the room. I don't recommend it if there are a lot of enemies, unless you have nothing else to take down a Pale with.

    - Don't forget you can take a Red+Blue Herb, or a Red+Blue+Green Herb to give yourself a Defense boost! This really came in handy when I got overwhelmed and couldn't help but get bitten once or twice.

    - Pay attention to the doors. You'll hear the zombies hitting the door before they come in. When they start hitting multiple doors, try to focus on the zombies at whichever door opens first.

    - Lastly, as I said before, there aren't a whole lot of places to run to. Try to get zombies to follow you down aisles. Also, there's a small counter near one of the doors that you can run around, which can be useful in getting a little extra distance from zombies. Just be careful, as you can easily get stuck if zombies come from both sides of the counter. On top of which there is a door that zombies come from near the counter, so.. again, be careful!


    I hope this helps. I think this scenario appears more difficult than it really is, so just practice and get used to how the scenario works and you'll surely beat it. Good Luck!

    EmperorBelloThis achievement isn't as hard as people are making it out to be.. Use your pistol in the beginning as much as possible. Save the cannisters to get as much bang for your buck. If you can hold off using your first RGB herb until kill 20+ you'll be set, you can almost keep the shield up constant until the end. Don't fire rockets until kill 70+. Watch as many guide videos as they are and you will come up with your own strategy. Got this on my 8th attempt.

    ReynardI finally managed to get it. I deleted my local save and prevented synchronization with the cloud save, then I re-unlocked the last challenge (training difficulty) and completed it a third time.

    It's really annoying because I also had to do it on RE1

    I was originally writing this as a comment to Kyoujiin's solution but it got so long that I figured I could turn it into another solution, complementary to theirs.
    So for starters read their solution and the comments, perhaps watch the couple of videos linked in the comments if you're more a video guide type of person.
    This is designed to be a more in depth set of tips about the supply drops that hopefully will be useful to anyone who's still having problems after reading/watching the other guides.

    I got this yesterday after probably about 15 failed attempts in the 60s and 70s and one very annoying failure on 95 kills. It's hard but not TOO hard.
    I think what finally did it for me was not overthinking/overplanning things too much i.e. not worrying about saving weapons and gas tanks.

    I'm not 100% certain but I think everything is set so you will get the exact same zombies and weapons on every run. It's definitely exactly the same at least up until about 50 kills where things start getting too hectic for me to have clocked the patterns.
    I came to memorise the pattern of zombies up to 30 kills which made things much easier.

    Generally you seem to get a gas tank zombie in every group of 10. If you can knock the tank down into a strategically placed area during the earlier stages then go for it but if you can't it's not a big deal. By the time you get to about 60 kills there will usually be enough zombies inside the store at any given point that just shooting the tank as soon as you see them will take down at least a few. An important thing to note is that tanks can definitely damage you if you're too close and will set off others if they're nearby. And the blast radius is bigger than you might think. I had one right by the front door of the store set off another that was halfway between the front door and the back corner (the corner that doesn't have a door in it). So if you're trying to get them dropped for later use make sure they're a decent distance away from each other or they may end up being wasted.

    As for the weapon drops:
    It's simple enough to use only the pistol for the first 20 kills so I'd recommend sticking with that. The zombies only come a few at a time at most and are either "plain" or ones with a couple of pieces of armour so nothing should take too many bullets. I know this should be an obvious tip but you can hold the trigger to fire continuously as opposed to tapping for each shot. I didn't realise this until I'd had a few attempts so that's me an idiot. At this point they only come from the front door and the fridge/freezer door so I mainly stood in the corner with the stock room door behind me where I could see both other doors and gunned them down. You can also dodge around the little coffee counter here if they get too close. As for the stock room door, I'm not 100% sure when the zombies first start coming out of it but it's not until your kills are at least in the 40s or 50s so that corner with a view of both other doors and the counter to dodge around can be a good spot to try and hold down early on.

    The first special weapon that drops is a sparkshot and it's mainly useful for the heavily armoured zombies and pale zombies as long as you've got the time to let it overcharge. The number of times I got attacked from behind during charging was ridiculous but it's an easy kill on a tough enemy if you can make it work. Only really useful early on or at the very beginning and end of waves because once you get beyond 50 kills there are generally too many zombies everywhere to overcharge it. So definitely don't worry about saving it for later, just use it as soon as you can. You should get a 2nd one drop I think somewhere around 50 kills and then I got a 3rd one right at the very end that was useful for the last handful of kills.

    You will get both a shotgun, unupgraded with 4 shots, and an uzi fairly early on. The shotgun is mostly useful to either stagger one or two zombies to give you a chance to run past them or quickly pop a head. This works great against the zombies that are completely armoured apart from their head. The short range makes it tricky to use against the purple eyed zombies because you will likely get caught in the cloud of poison when they die, so best only done if you've already got resistance or plan to cure the poison pretty soon. Trying to play this mode while poisoned is terrible.
    The uzi is also great for a quick kill against a zombie that is closing in on you and works really well against the pale zombies. But both weapons should be used as soon as you see any use for them, no point in hoarding. Don't risk losing health trying to save ammo, it's almost never worth it. You will get another shotgun later on, this time fully upgraded and with 8 shots. You definitely get a 2nd uzi not too far in and maybe even a 3rd towards the end.

    Also fairly early on you'll get a flamethrower. Like the spark shot it's especially good against heavily armoured and pale zombies. It takes a few seconds to kill anything but the obvious advantage is that it can be used against a cluster to hurt all of them at the same time. Another effect is that it will immediately set off gas tanks so can be extremely useful if there's a tank hidden amongst a group of zombies that's not so easy to hit with a bullet. Just be aware of the explosion dealing damage to you if you're too close. As with most of the other weapons you definitely get another flamethrower so no need to spare that fuel.

    On top of all this you will get a rocket launcher with 2 rockets. I'm pretty sure this drops somewhere around 50 kills and I've seen a lot of other folk talking about saving this for the very end. The thing is it drops around the time where it's really starting to heat up and you can find that suddenly around the 50-60 kill mark there are a large number of zombies roaming about including lots of pale and fully armoured ones. They will quickly cluster up so if you see an opportunity to blow up 10 zombies including a few pales with a timely rocket then absolutely take it, no matter whether you're at 50 kills or 90.
    Thanks to this you'll find the vast majority of the time spent getting to 100 kills will be slogging through the first 40-50 when you're picking them off. Once you get to about 60 the pistol should be all but forgotten about as you're basically going wild with the flamethrower and the rockets, there are likely gas tank zombies getting mixed in with the clusters. The kills start jumping so quickly you can barely even keep track of it.

    I found the inventory juggling aspect of this to heavily suggest using special weapons near enough immediately. You get a scant 8 slots, 7 after the pistol and likely 6 because hopefully you've always got a healing item to fall back on. All of the special weapons with the exception of the unupgraded shotgun and uzis take up 2 slots so you'll fill it up very quickly. Use the special weapons as soon as you can and discard them to make room for the next which will almost certainly have dropped by the time you've got room.

    So in short, try to use only the pistol for the first 20 kills, then use a combination of pistol and special weapons up to 40 by which point you should be almost exclusively using special weapons. Prioritise using the initial sparkshot early because that's when it's most useful and another one will drop very soon anyway. If you can get gas tanks positioned in good places then go for it but it's not an issue if not. Use all other special weapons as soon as you see a use for them and don't worry about hoarding anything. Like I said before, don't risk losing health to save ammo. Health drops are far less common that weapons and it sucks to die with an inventory full of untouched weapons.

    LordMakanakiThis is the solution that got me from really struggling to feeling like I can get it done. Most helpful tips for me were don't hoard ammo and hold RT to fire instead of tapping RT for the pistol.

    I would only conserve the rocket launcher and use 1 shot during wave 70-85 and 1 during wave 85-100. Also do not pick up the flash bangs early. Get them during the later waves.

    GrandKushMastaOnly thing I can add to this is to agree with the rocket launcher statement in the previous comment, and that with the flash bangs save them for later on and possibly even leave them out of your inventory, when it starts to get hectic, use a flash instead of using it as a defense, as it covers a much wider area in my experience.

    This challenge was tough. I'd say it was almost as tough as beating the Devil on Expert in Cuphead. Probably took me 30 hours plus of practice to get this. It IS, however, possible!

    The trick is balancing health and ammo and learning the patterns of what zombies come where. Especially the Gas Tank (exploder) Zombies, you need to know where they come and how best to use them.

    Some basic tips:-

    #1 Try to hold off using your first GBR (Shield Heal) for as long as possible. You really need that shield at the end when things get mad.

    #2 Yes, you can do it in less bullets, but make your life easy. Max out the handgun bullets to save the heavy stuff for when you're under pressure.

    #3 Towards the end, try to keep Sparkshots for single zombies and the Flamethrower for groups.

    #4 Try to hold off using the rockets - they are great for getting you out of a pickle, but kind of a waste if you use them when you're next to a Gas Tank Zombie, which would have done a similar job but only cost a splash of flamer fuel.

    #5 Spark shot is great for Pale Heads and armoured zombies.

    #6 Try to use Gas Tanks to take out Pale Heads and Armoured Zombies.

    #7 Use the Uzi to either carefully pop headshots when you're not under pressure or to 'spray and pray' at a Gas Tank when you're swarmed.

    #8 If you DO need to fire a rocket, aim at the ceiling or floor - this seems to give a bigblast area and you might kill some zombies you haven't even seen.

    #9 If you ARE short on ammo or weapons, but Shielded and on full health, you can let a Back Pack or Gas Tank Zombie grab you. This makes them drop their load without costing you a single bullet.

    #10 Practice corralling zombies into an area with a Gas Tank. This is probably the key skill you need to succeed in this challenge.

    Watch the video a couple of times, play it yourself, try to learn the patterns. If something different works better for you - do that instead. Good luck and let me know how you get on in the comments.

    Detailed Tips for each wave:-

    #1-10 Use the handgun, try to place your shots. Try to get the Gas Tank guy to drop his can between the counter and front door.

    #11-20 Start by using the can dropped already to take out some armoured guys. See video for how to do this. Avoid using your first GBR mix if you can. Use the spark shot dropped by the backpack guy in this wave to take out any stragglers.

    #20-29 Check your Gunslinger shots in the records. If you're where you should be - around 45 shots. Use the handgun to kill the first three poison zombies that come in from the backdoor. If have enough shots, kill another couple with the handgun. Otherwise, move to the Sparkshot and get the backpack guy's Uzi. Save the shotgun shells for later and focus on the Sparkshot and Uzi. Save half a clip of Uzi ammo if you can.

    #30-39 Start by killing the backpack guy with the Red Herb at the backdoor with a Spark shot or shotgun shell. Then run to the counter and try to herd the zombies around it. Use the exploding Gas Tank guy to take out as many as possible. If you take out the right zombies another exploder, and a Pale Head will appear. Herd the remaining together and use the 2nd exploder to take them all out.

    #40-49 Begin by taking out the cop coming through the front door with the flamethrower in a backpack. Use the Uzi if you have enough shots. If not fall back on the Shotgun. If you're really low on ammo, but have a shield and health let him grab you to drop the pack. Grab his flamethrower then run to the back door with the shotgun equipped. Use it to crown the backpack armoured with a Sparkshot, then take out the remaining, ideally saving fuel.

    #50 Onwards. Try to lure zombie #50 (A Pale Head coming in the front door) to the back door. Run up the middle aisle, then spray some flames towards the backdoor. The exploding zombie there should take out himself plus two Pale Heads.

    From here on in, it gets less predictable. Try to stretch out your health and conserve your ammo. Save your rockets for when you can take out a LOT! Rockets and exploding zombies kill through the shelves, so if you shoot a rocket in the middle aisle when the room is full of zombies you can kill a lot. Look out for the Red Herb guy coming in the front door at #88 it's around this time you can use a rocket to jump to #95 or #96 by firing near the counter. By that stage you should have a few shotgun shells, some fuel and some Uzi bullets to mop up.

    Good luck, can't win this for you, but bad luck can ruin a perfect run. Keep at it, keep trying to stretch the health and ammo out and you WILL get it! Let me know how you got on in the comments!
