Although AI is certainly a contentious subject, that hasn't stopped many firms, like Microsoft, Ubisoft, and others from supporting the revolutionary technology, and the latest to speak on it is Take-Two. While attending an event recently, the company's CEO Straus Zelnick discussed AI and its potential to make NPCs "interesting and fun."

“Everyone’s working on that,” he said. “You’re a playable character, you’re interacting with the non-playable character. That interaction is currently scripted," Zelnick said during the Paley International Council Summit (thanks, Inverse). "And the non-playable characters are generally not very interesting. You could imagine all the NPCs becoming really interesting and fun.” Although the CEO did say that the race to develop propriety in-house AI technology means that “it may be better, but it almost certainly will not be faster and cheaper" than using voice actors.

Naturally, Zelnick was asked about Rockstar Games' upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, but he wasn't willing to divulge anything other than the team is working on it. “I can confirm that Rockstar is working on the next iteration of the Grand Theft Auto franchise." Zelnick said. "More than that comes from Rockstar."

After years of speculation, a huge leak last year, and many reports suggesting it will have a female protagonist and story DLC, Rockstar finally announced that we'll get our first official look at GTA 6 next month during the studio's 25th-anniversary celebrations.
