Our TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2023 vote brings together 32 of the best Xbox games of the past year for a single elimination tournament where the outcome is up to you.
Today's round of voting sees Blizzard's Diablo IV take on NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat 1 in a fight to the death. Diablo IV put a stop to Ghostrunner 2 in round 7 and Mortal Kombat 1 drowned Thirsty Suitors in round 8, so it'll be good to see how these beasts do when turned on each other.
Diablo IV launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in June, quickly becoming Blizzard's fastest-selling game ever, while Mortal Kombat 1 punched a hole in our Xbox Series X|S libraries in September with celebrity appearances including Megan Fox and Jean-Claud Van Damme. Both games are part of well-established juggernaut franchises — let this clash of titans begin!
While a more traditional TrueAchievements GOTY vote will be held later this month, we thought running a knockout tournament like this would be a great way to spark some conversion around 2023's best Xbox games. To be fair, we put AAA games in the top bracket and smaller indie games in the second bracket tier, offering all participating a chance to take the crown.
