The TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2023 vote returns, pitting 32 of the best Xbox games of the year against one another in a single elimination tournament where you decide the winner.
Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes on Cocoon in round 18 of our Game of the Year 2023 vote. In previous matchups, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor managed to easily slice apart Dredge, whereas Cocoon took what some would call a surprise win against the giant mechs of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
Despite many teething issues with performance at launch, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is easily one of the best action-adventure games of the year. With its excellent Dark Souls-inspired combat, an interesting story, and wonderfully crafted levels filled with interesting places to explore, we can see Survivor again coming out on top here.
However, that doesn't mean to say Cocoon won't put up a fight. A recent entry into Xbox Game Pass, Cocoon is one of the best puzzle adventure games we've seen in a long time. With its unique take on the genre where worlds exist within worlds, Cocoon makes for a captivating experience that you won't be able to put down once it gets its teeth into you.
To keep the tournament fair, we've placed AAA games into the top bracket and indie and other smaller titles into a second bracket tier. As always, we will have our more traditional GOTY vote towards the end of the month — this is just for fun and to get some good discussion kicking off in the comments about this year's best Xbox games.

The story of Cal Kestis continues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a third-person galaxy-spanning action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. This narratively-driven, single-player title picks up five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and follows Cal's increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness.
