Not content to come out with one of the best expansions of all time, CD Projekt Red has improved their game yet again with next week's Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1, which lets you hang out with Panam and Judy (or the other Romance options I guess, if you make poor life choices).

The full details of the update dropped during the latest REDstreams video earlier today. If you don't feel like watching the stream, the short version is that this free update will add a bunch of new features, including a city-wide fully functional NCART metro system, the ability to listen to the radio on foot, and new hangout options for all the romantic partners in the game. Hey Niko, want to go bowling?

Alongside these major additions, there will also be additional chases added to some missions and replayable car races as side activities, both of which will help make the most of the new vehicle combat system that was added in Update 2.0. The Adam Smasher boss fight has had an overhaul too, with new AI for the big man and a Sandevistan system for him (this mod lets the player slow down time, so we're a bit horrified to see how that manifests for Smasher).

Update 2.1 is coming to Cyberpunk 2077 on all platforms — Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC — on December 5th and will be free for all players, whether you have the Phantom Liberty DLC or not. See the full notes below:

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 new features

Travel by NCART metro
  • Travel around Night City with ease thanks to Night City Area Rapid Transport metro services. Stop worrying about the traffic and enjoy the view thanks to the 5 metro lines stopping on a total of 19 stations spread throughout the city. Service available only after V receives the text message from NCART.
Radio on the go
  • This one is for all of the traveling audiophiles in our community! We’ve added a radioport that allows V to listen to the radio while exploring Night City on foot or riding the metro. It comes with adjustable volume and it will automatically turn off when game audio is crucial — for example during conversations.
Improved boss fights
  • We’ve introduced a number of improvements to boss fights, most notably to the one with Adam Smasher. It is now more iconic, as Smasher will better adapt to the tactics used by players, will be much more relentless, and will use Sandevistan — much like he was in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Attention all petrolhe… CHOOH2-heads! We’ve got a lot of new stuff for all motoring enthusiasts out there!

  • New vehicles, including new motorbikes and a real classic: a cabriolet version of Porsche 911!
  • Replayable car races, available after the race with Claire is finished.
  • More immersive motorbike riding — including ability to throw knives while riding, leaning, doing wheelies and even flips!
  • New car chases — if you mess with the gangs while doing gigs, they might hunt you down later!
  • Newly opened highway.
Making Cyberpunk even more accessible
  • We’ve moved all of the existing accessibility options and added a handful more to a new Accessibility tab in game settings. Would you like a simplified UI? Or maybe larger fonts? We’ve got you covered! You can read more about our accessibility features here:
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 accessibility features
Cyberpunk 2077 got a pretty major overhaul earlier this year with Update 2.0, which dropped alongside the Phantom Liberty DLC. I absolutely loved both the update and the expansion content (check out my Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty review for my full thoughts), and the one thing I felt was a bit undercooked was the vehicle combat, so it's great to see the devs adding more reason to engage with that.

Looks like there's never been a better time to get out there and unlock those Cyberpunk 2077 achievements.
