Assassin's Creed Red could release on Xbox as early as next year

Assassin's Creed Red could bring its feudal Japanese setting to Xbox as earlier as next year, according to a recent post from Ubisoft.

Ubisoft Quebec, the developer behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey, is currently working on a new open-world game in the franchise, Assassin's Creed Codename Red, which will be set in Feudal Japan. Ubisoft hasn't said much about the game since its announcement, but it now looks like we could be playing it as early as next year.

Assassin's Creed Red is the "biggest blockbuster of 2024"

Keen-eyed Twitter user Access the Animus (via GamesRadar+), has spotted that a member of Ubisoft's business development and brand team, Arisa Lagunzad, has potentially given us a release window for Assassin's Creed Red when calling for brand partnerships on LinkedIn.

"We are seeking sponsoring partner for this title Assassin's Creed Codename Red for next year," Lagunzad's post reads (translated from Japanese). "Assassin's Creed is really expanding the multi-media front, with podcasts and Manga series. Do you want to partner with the biggest blockbuster for 2024?"

Of course, it doesn't necessarily mean the game will be launching in 2024, as Ubisoft could just be looking to ramp up its marketing then, but there is always the possibility. With this year's Assassin's Creed Mirage set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on October 12, Ubisoft could be targeting a similar launch date for Red in 2024.

According to Ubisoft's vice president and executive producer of Assassin's Creed Marc-Alexis Cote, Codename Red is "the future of our open-world RPG games on Assassin's Creed," which is a very different format to Mirage, which won't have any "XP-based progression" at all.
